[post_content] => TIRANA, May.25- What will Europe of 2020 look like? This is the topic of 100 posters that have arrived in Tirana after being exhibited in many European capitals and that address this question from an artistic point of view. 23 artists from all over the world have presented their vision which sometimes is a lady of many masks over the face, a lonely wolf with stars on the neck, a growing family or a flag collection. The exhibition will be at the National Art Gallery for one month. The works have been selected form a panel of artists and come from Byelorussia, Croatia, Germany, France, Bulgaria, USA, Iran, Czech Republic, Finland, Switzerland, Turkey, etc. Some of the artists have been inspired from historical development to predict the future and some only from their imagination. Recent trends in he EU with Angela Merkel getting the leadership and Segolene Royal running for President in France have induced artist to portray Europe as a bull in charge from a naked woman, reflecting the increasing political power of women in the EU. This is the vision of Vitali P. Konstantinov, originally from Besarabia, between Ukraine, Romania and Moldova, currently living in Germany. For Savas Cekic, coming from aspiring Turkey, Europe is an aggressive wolf with a stars necklace, a position that expresses the problematic dynamics of integration for Turkey. Polish artist, Andrzej Pagowski presents a grey haired woman with 2020 masks, to portray the long history f the aging continent. Wieslaw Grzegorczyk, again from Poland plays with self-image by using a mirror of a woman. For a majority of the artists the continent is under constant change, an image reflected best at the entry when Europe is presented as a chemical reaction between many precious metals.
The idea of this exhibition was from the Croatian designer Boris Ljubicic and was supported first by the Croatian Ministry of Integration as well as the Association of designers in Croatia. Many of the interesting entries in the collection come from Eastern artists who have been observing Europe with the careful and critical eye of the outsider willing to get in.

The book has again met with some controversy as it assigns the epic moment of the new rebirth to the protests of the early 80s in Kosova while academic Agim Vinca have identified this key moment in 1968 protests. The book is a reflection on the recent national developments in Albania and Kosovo.

[post_content] => TIRANA, May.12- Out of the 28 competing songs in the European music contest only 10 could make it to the next stage and the Albanian "hear my plea" from Frederik Ndoci could not make it to the second round. Praised by international commentators as a good performance, Ndoci's song could not make it in the show of Helsinki.
The Serbian entry Molitva (The Plea), performed by Marija Serifovic, which came through the semi-final stage went on to take the big prize at the final of 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki on Saturday night. The powerful ballad collected 268 votes and was consistently at the head of the field. Immediately after the proclamation of the winner, a controversy sparked over a potential theft of the song from the Albanian song 'Separation' composed by a Macedonian artist, Maki (Mariano Filipovski) and performed by the well-known Albanian singer Soni Malaj during the festival Top-Fest 3 and even won a prize. The composer has claimed that much of the music is the same and the singer also confirmed that the chorus part sounded to her very similar. Music experts have expressed different opinion about the song while many European tabloids like The Sun have published the news on their headlines. The organizing part, the European Broadcasting Union is yet to issue an official reaction to the news and if the claim is confirmed it has to annul the first prize as all participating songs have to be authentic. The controversy over the two songs has raised worldwide curiosity as more than 90.000 users have accessed different video transmitting websites in order to check the sound similarity between the two.
Belgrade will host the show in 2008.

[post_content] => TIRANA, May.14 - Out of the 28 competing songs in the European music contest only ten could make it to the next stage, and the Albanian "Hear My Plea" from Frederik Ndoci has not been selected for the second round. Though praised by international commentators as a good performance, Ndoci's song could not reach to the final stages in the show in Helsinki.
However, the Serbian entry Molitva, performed by Marija Serifovic, which made it to the semi-final stage, went on to take the final prize at the final of 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki on Saturday night. The powerful ballad collected 268 votes and was consistently at the head of the field. Belgrade will host the show in 2008.

[post_content] => TIRANA, May 15 - Soni Malaj, a well known Albanian singer, claims the first notes of her song were copied and used by Serbian singer Maria Serifovic, who won the Eurovision contest last week.
Serifovic's powerful ballad, Molitva, scored 268 points, beating Ukrainian drag queen Verka Serdyuchka who finished in second place. Russia was third, Turkey fourth and Bulgaria fifth.
But Serbia's victory celebrations in this year's Eurovision Song Contest were marred by claims the track is a copy of another song and accusations of distorted eastern European block voting.
Critics believe Molitva, performed by Marija ˥rifovic, is a remake of an old Albanian track of singer Soni Malaj.
A man who posted a video comparing the two songs side by side online said: "I knew this Albanian song long ago. It won a popular song competition called Top Fest that is organized yearly. As soon as I heard Serbia's song I realized it was plagiarized. I am not aware if they did it intentionally or not, but the similarity was obvious."
Macedonian composer Mariano Filipovski, or Maki, said that his song for Soni Malaj, titled "Separation," was made up of 50 percent of the Serb song. He added he was contacting experts to evaluate his charges and if proven he would take legal steps.

[post_content] => TIRANA, May. 17- On its Thursday showings, the film school Marubi appealed to the nostalgia of Italian cinema, bringing a 1986 production of Vittorio de Sicca. The movie is 'Amanti' (Lovers) where Marcello Mastroiani stars along side Faye . Julai, a divorced American fashion designer is dying of a tragic incurable disease. With only tend days to live, she spends her time vacationing in an Italian villa, watching television. She spots a interview with an engineer named Valerio who designs airbags to protect people in times of car accidents. She is reminded of seeing him at the airport and calls him to her villa. The love story of De Sicca brings to the Albanian audience the magic of the good old Italian cinematography.
