Robert Rogner, the Austrian entrepreneur known internationally for his humanitarian spirit and successful charities, recently undertook a private initiative in support of Nepal, which this spring was hit by two strong earthquakes. In people's minds, the only thing that has remained are the figures like 8,400 dead, about 12,000 wounded, part of them in serious condition and millions that are left homeless.

Nepal is slowly disappearing from the headlines. The media no longer reports on it. Very few people are informed about the small earthquakes of 4 to 5 magnitudes that hit almost daily in this region. We are still months away before life in Nepal can be called "normal" again.

A day after the earthquake, the Rogner family gave a personal initial assistance of 10,000 Euros to the Nepalese which survived. Later, they also donated 20,000 Euros for a rapid reconstruction. Also, parts of his charity project are his two hotels Rogner Bad Blumau - Austria, and the Rogner Hotel in Tirana who are involved in a special effort to collect donations for the Nepalese.

Rogner Bad Blumau donates 10 cents for every customer who gives up the daily change of towels, according to official sources of Bad Blumau, which means they are gathering approximately 5,000 Euros.

Meanwhile Dagmar Gietmann and Florian Ilse, General Managers of the Rogner Hotel in Tirana, declared that "The donation from the Rogner Hotel in Tirana will be removing 50 cents from the proceeds of each room night from January until the end of June in order to collect a total amount of approximately 7,500 Euros.”

They added that "at the reception desk we have mounted a stand, with a box where all guests can contribute."

From this story, Nepalese now have hope, especially a Nepali wife, Buddhi Maya Sherpa, which already has a dear friend who thinks about her homeland, Mr. Rogner. Married in Kärnten, Austria, the woman experienced a great distress for her family in Nepal. "There is still a future," she says. After countless phone calls home, she finally managed to breathe when she found out that her whole family had survived! However the consequences of the earthquake in her native Zarok, in the foothills of Mount Everest at an altitude of 3600 meters were catastrophic.

Mr. Rogner has had such experiences before, but the one in 1988 has remained in his mind. "In 1988, I helped earthquake victims in Armenia. Suffering, despair - images that remain in the mind throughout life, "he says, adding:" Tourism is the artery that gives life to this region; it is where I constantly give my contribution. We want to recreate the future and work for the people living in the mountainous village huts at the foothills of the Himalaya. "

Robert Rogner, has been one of the first investors in Albania, he came to our country in 1992, and has steadily given donations along with his wife, Ms. Melitta. Among many of the donations, we remember his valuable contribution in 2011 to the recovery of a 13-year-old girl who was diagnosed with leukemia. Mr. Rogner covered all expenses for her medical treatment in a private clinic in Austria, and the girl today enjoys good health, thanks to his humanitarian spirit. While Ms. Rogner continues to make constant donations to the SOS Children's Village, the Maltese Order Association, orphans in Elbasan and others as well.
