Exhibition features Albanian art in Germany

TIRANA, Dec. 3 – A deal on strengthening Albanian-German cooperation paved the way to an exhibition in Dusseldorf featuring more than 100 years of Albanian in art since the declaration of the country’s independence in 1912.

The exhibition held at the North Rhine-Westphalian State Parliament displayed the best of Albanian art from 1912 to present day, showcasing great masters such as Idromeno, Kodra etc. and filling a gap about Albanian culture and art in one of the key German federal states.

“We have come to fill this gap ‘with bright colors. The white mark of culture shock makes us more committed to work on culture and promote it here at the heart of Europe thanks to talented Albanian artists. I believe such events will be greater in number after the cultural commitment between the two governments,” said Culture Minister Mirela Kumbaro.

The exhibition called “Albania through the years of the 1912-2015 generation of artists” was held in the frame of the Albanian November in the North Rhine-Westphalian State and remained open from Nov. 27 to Dec. 4

Under the new deal, both Albania and Germany have committed to strengthen cooperation in art and culture through joint events and exchange of experience.
