TIRANA, June 5 – Albanian police said it arrested two people accused of supplying citizens with fake documents to illegally enter EU countries like Germany and the UK on Wednesday.

The suspects were detained in Elbasan after a several-months investigation looking into the criminal activities of document falsification and human trafficking.

The statement said that at the end of the code operation “the Promise” police found in the raided houses counterfeit passports, falsified documents and certificates in Albanian and German, and money in cash.

The two detainees – 60-year old Musa Rama, born in Librazhd and living in Tirana and 51-year old Albert Hako, born and living in Durres, were paid 10,000 to 16,000 euros for the fake documents, and had previous penal records.

Rama and Hako were already wanted by the police, while the Elbasan court had charged them with imprisonment on June 4.

Police did not disclose how many people are thought to have profited from the illegal activity.
