TIRANA, April 10 – The head of the Serious Crimes Appeal Fehmi Petku, head of the Durres Serious Crimes Appeals Ferdinand Elezi and Head of Saranda’s Prosecution Office Edison Ademi were dismissed from duty by the Independent Qualification Commission under the vetting process on Wednesday.

The IQC found issues with all three judges’ wealth justification, in addition to other violations.

In Petku’s case, information received by the Directorate of Securing Classified Information also raised doubts on Petku maintaining contact with people belonging to organized crime networks, as well as involvement with passive corruption.

Concerns were also raised for the prosecution’s professional performance.

While Elezi was dismissed over issues with justifying two owned apartments, Ademi’s dismissal came over troubles with his professionalism.

The trial panel mentioned at least two cases of ethical violations – the first related to his phone communication with a person whom he had investigated for illegal possession of weapons, and the second for allowing a person with criminal precedent pass through the Morina Customs.
