Tirana Times: About Us

Tirana Times is Albania’s first weekly newspaper of original news and views devoted to serving the English speaking audience of Albania and abroad.

The concept of publishing an English language newspaper in Albania is a result of Albania’s continuing internationalization. More and more Albanians are speaking English, in schools, business and government and in order to communicate with the rest of the world or travel outside the country it’s a virtual necessity. Our purpose is to provide comprehensive weekly coverage of what’s happening in Albania and the Balkans.

We’re not only targeted at Albanian English speakers though. We also want to provide a service to foreigners working in Albania, those in non-governmental organizations, business travelers and tourists so they can learn what’s going on and understand the country and its citizens better.

As Albania’s international connections have grown in the past years, so has the interest of people around the world to learn more about Albania and to keep updated with the latest events inside the country and the surrounding areas. Until now there has been no source in English to fill this thirst for information with the focus, quality and extent it deserves. Tirana Times will now try to fill that void.

It has been an ambitious undertaking to get Tirana Times up and running but we think you find it worth our efforts. We hope you’ll enjoy our newspaper and become a weekly reader.
