5 Bulgarians arrested for bank chips

TIRANA, Aug. 2 – Police arrested five Bulgarians and accused them of producing false bank ATM cards which they used to have stolen money.
Their arrest followed an investigation continuing for some months.
Police believe they have used the fake cards to have stolen at least 150,000 euro in some 100 transactions at the ATMs in Tirana, Durres, Vlora and Saranda.
They produced the cloned cards themselves.
Three of them were arrested at a hotel in Durres while producing some fake cards while the two others at a border crossing point when they were trying to leave the country.
Police also sequestered a number of equipment they used to produce the cloned cards.
