TIRANA, Feb.10 – The Public Works, Transport and Telecommunication Ministry in Tirana announced on Friday that Albania will launch next month a 26.2 million euro ($34.1 million) Dutch-funded water supply project. The project aims at the overhaul of the water supply system in the city of Vlore, in the south, which serves 125,000 inhabitants, according to the statement by the ministry. It is financed by the Dutch government and Dutch ING Bank. The upgrade will help the city ensure round-the clock water supply to its inhabitants, compared to 12 hours a day now. The Dutch company A. Hak International B.V. will finish the project within 18 months. Dutch consultants Royal Haskoning will supervise the implementation. The project includes works for the repair of two pumping stations, reservoirs and upgrade of 55 kilometers of water mains, and the construction of a new pumping station and a new reservoir with a 6,000 cubic meters capacity.
