TIRANA, March. 30 – The CIA World Fact-book is a large database which is consulted for its accurateness and reliability by millions of researchers worldwide the Central intelligence Agency has updates on every country’s main information ranging from population numbers to summarized findings on the political, economic and social outlook. In its 2007 edition the fact-book includes some concerning conclusion on the Albanian informal economy which according to the website has reached the level of 50 percent of GDP.
On the background of the country, the report says “Although Albania’s economy continues to grow, the country is still one of the poorest in Europe, hampered by a large informal economy and an inadequate energy and transportation infrastructure.” The website also stresses the role of the remittances in fueling domestic development.
