TIRANA, May. 21 – The Communication Regulation Authority of Albania has warned all customers of public phone service as well as private cellular phones that unregistered users will lose their phone service after July 1. Curtailing unregistered phone service results from a measure introduced months ago. Both mobile phone companies have begun campaigns to register their customers as well as offer promotional incentives for early registration. For instance, Vodafone is giving phone credits to those who registered between April and May 7, while AMC has recorded data for only 40 percent of customers up to now. Some of the company representatives have complained that the time allocated is not enough given the limited staffing available for registration.
