Government to sell 40 percent of its shares of United Bank of Albania

TIRANA, May.30- The government has declared it will sell 40 percent of the shares it owns in the United Bank of Albania, currently valued at $8 million. The appraisal of the value of the shares was performed by the international “Deloitte” company. The approval of the sale gives the Ministry of Finance the right to begin seeking a potential buyer with a guaranteed reputation in the banking field. Offers from other shareholders of the bank have been very low and have not been accepted. The Ministry of Finance has offered existing owners the first opportunity to purchase the government’s shares, but only one offer has been submitted from shareholder Solaiman A. El Khereiji. This offer was considered too low as it calculated the purchase price according to the nominal value of $5.002.900, which is against regulations and cannot be considered
