TIRANA, Oct. 7 – Smaller allies of the main opposition Democratic Party have made public statements urging stronger ties within the right-wing collation.
Some leaders among have also thrown the idea of joining or merging their smaller political parties in one with the Democrats.
But other leaders, often within the same group, turn down that idea which would make them lose the identity.
Many leaders of the smaller opposition parties are present in the parliament due to the acceptance from the Democratic Party of then-leader Sali Berisha to include their names in its election list. They could not win a parliamentary seat with their own votes.
These voices also come out at a time when the Democrats have changed their leader, from the authoritarian Berisha to a more moderate Lulzim Basha, the mayor of Tirana.
