TIRANA, Dec.3- The highway connecting the southern coastal town of Saranda to the southern point of Konispol and the customs point bordering Greece in Qafebot will be built by a Greek company. The company, AEGEK, announced that its bid has been accepted for construction of the road segment from Sarand뮋onispol. This road will stretch for 40 kilometers and cost some 37,6 million euro. In its economic budget for 2008, the government has allocated nearly 28.8 million euro for the construction of this road. The financing of the project will be completed with a loan of 30 million euro provided by the Greek government in the context of the Greek Plan for reconstruction and development of the Balkans. This segment completes the North-South corridor and replaces the existing roads, which was constructed by Italian troops in the early 1940s and, hence, is very outdated.
