TIRANA, June 9 – In its efforts to become an EU member, though a small country, Albania has started to attract more press in the neighboring countries.
The Italian news agency Ansa wrote this week that “The path to bring Albania to Europe is still long, but many steps have been taken, and others will follow in the short-term, so that in a few years, Tirana can enter the EU through the front door. ”
It continued to mention the digitalization of the country, the IT technology spread in efforts to bring the country towards the standards necessary to enter the EU.
Albania has applied for the EU candidate status. It has already responded to thousands of questions and is now expecting Brussels to check them and likely give the positive answer later this year.
It is also mentioned in respect of the efforst to turn into a visa-free regime country, following the issuing of the new biometric passports and ID cards.
There are still many efforts and reforms which the tiny Balkan country should fulfill along its integration work toward the bloc.
There is still much to be done, mainly in the field of infrastructural works, after the communist regime, which left a legacy of a shoddy network of roads and a need for large-scale infrastructural projects, wrote Ansa.
Hungarian radio HG5XA will also be active as ZA/HA5X from the town of Orikum and a beach on the Bay of Vlora between June 10-24th. Activity will be holiday style, but there is plan to activate some lighthouses and/or WFF locations.
