TIRANA, May 24 – Albanian authorities across the country are making preparations to welcome tourists for summer vacations this year.
In Durres, authorities launched last week the summer vacation period with a number of ceremonies.
In southernmost Saranda district authorities launched this week an operation to clear the area of Butrint and Ksamil of some 200 illegal constructions there.
Authorities said that many cultural and ancient values in the area have been damaged from these illegal constructions built without a proper authorization from the local offices.
Hundreds of thousands of tourists, mainly coming from Kosovo and Macedonia come to Albania in the summer.
