TIRANA, April 20 – Albania, a NATO member country since two years, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NC3A at a ceremony held at the NATO Consultation, Command, and Control Agency (NC3A) in Brussels.
The agreement was signed by NC3A General Manager Georges D’hollander and by Albanian officials.
In February 2011, the Albanian Minister of Defense invited NC3A to begin the necessary coordination on Air Surveillance requirements and acquisition issues with the Albanian Ministry of Defense.
Albania is pursuing an upgrade of her Air Surveillance, Air C2 and Ground-Air-Ground (GAG) communications capabilities.
NC3A has been invited to perform a study of the requirements and current capabilities in order to identify cost effective options for consideration by Albania.
“We want to sign this framework MoU with all 28 NATO nations in order to better organize our cooperation in coordination with the work we do for HQ, Strategic Commands and other NATO organizations. Even more – with such MoUs we want to open opportunity to Partner nations to use the Agency services. We are open for discussion with all nations who request our support, so when the cooperation is agreed by North Atlantic Council, we are ready to help,” Director Sponsor Account NATO Nations.
