TIRANA, March 10 – Christian Canacaris, the CEO of Raiffeisen Bank in Albania has taken over as the new chair of the Albanian Association of Banks, a body representing 16 commercial banks operating in Albania with assets worth around Euro 9 billion and a workforce of 6,800 employees.
Canacaris replaces Seyhan Pencabligil, the director of the BKT Bank in Albania, who served as the association’s chairman in the 2005-2017 and 2011-2013 period.
Canacaris, an experienced banker in CEE countries and emerging markets, is the current CEO of Raiffeisen Bank in Albania, the country’s biggest commercial bank.
The Albanian Association of Banks, originally established as the Albanian Bankers Club in 1999, targets improving banking and financial services of member banks, increasing the potential of their human resources, and making the banking system in Albania more successful.
