Basha in Washington

TIRANA, Feb. 1 – Tirana Mayor Lulzim Basha made a visit to Washington where he met with his Washington counterpart Vincent Gray, US Asst. Deputy Secretary of State Philip Reeker and also took part in a meeting at the Center for Transatlantic Relations.
Basha presented his ideas and projects to change the Albanian capital and also asked for assistance from the interlocutors.
His visit did not pass without being noted in the country’s political and media arena too.
While the governing Democrats hailed his visit and the way he had tried to secure help in Washington, the opposing side tried to lower its credits.
Basha’s election to the post followed a long saga last year. The opposition claimed that the governing democrats had manipulated the vote counting and also corrupted the judges that decided the final election results.
