TIRANA, July.16- One of the most prominent business associations in Albania, Konfindustria, has shown great concern over the tax authorities’ decision to fine TopMedia Company. The association has expressed its concern about the amount of the fine, which could bankrupt TopMedia.
General administrator of the association, Gjergj Buxhuku, has urged government authorities to reconsider the decision, which is setting a dangerous and negative example as well as sending a fearful signal towards business. The association also mentioned that the governmental procedure to penalize TopMedia has been unclear and allegedly selective in order to punish a politically disobedient firm. Hence, the administration should show commitment in checking the work of the taxation authorities in order to prove, once and for all to all concerned businesses, that they can trust the authorities.
