TIRANA, July 31 – CEZ power supply company has made it clear that consumers who do not pay electricity will not be supplied with power, together with all those citizens that result debtors and those that have made illegal connections. CEZ has offered extenuating forms for debt payment, but if help is refused, citizens will be left without power.
“We have undertaken a campaign for cutting the power in those areas where consumers have illegally gotten power or are total debtor in the medium voltage network. This cutting gives the consumers a zero opportunity for abusive connections in the network, because consumers in certain areas, especially rural areas and suburbs are total debtors to our company and we have taken measures for cutting the whole cabins from the medium voltage network,” said Admirim Lakra of CEZ.
Residents in some northeastern areas like those in the communes of Maqellare, Gjorice and Shupenze in Dibra district have threatened to block the national road and have also tried to invade CEZ offices there. CEZ said that the power was cut for the village of Vojnik who had made an illegal link.
There are different cases of that issue and sometimes people complain that the power is cut to the whole village or quarter at a time when only some of the residents have not paid.
That is right. If I pay I am not supposed to be punished why others do not.
But there have also been cases when residents, especially in the areas covered from some hydropower stations and their previous lands were flooded from them say they have no money to pay electricity supply and they want compensation for the flooded land.
That is not right, at all.
People should likely complain or protest more when the power price goes up.
Other people, those who pay and who are most of the consumers, should also protest why some quarters, areas are let free to spend the power without payment.
Power is an item sold, this time from CEZ, and buyers should pay money for that. Very often the problem remains again with the authorities and the power company that neglect certain areas where residents do not pay the consume and increase the pressure and the price to others who pay that.
