TIRANA, July – The Swiss embassy in Tirana reported that 52 underprivileged children from G쳤ec and Marqinet villages as well as 6 disabled children from Tirana city were invited, along with 12 accompanying teachers, to spend their summer holidays at a famous specialized children’s village in Trogen in eastern Switzerland from 28 July to 11 August 2009.
This is the third time that Albanian youngsters have been invited free of charge to spend two weeks of vacation in Switzerland.
The Swisscor Foundation (www. swisscor.ch) each year holds a holiday camp in Switzerland with medical care that welcomes underprivileged children, disabled or abandoned boys and girls, aged between 9-14 years old, and helps victims of crisis or even war.
In 2009 there were invited 58 children from Albania – together with 20 others from Bosnia-Herzegovina – to a relaxing summer camp in a picturesque region. Appenzell is situated in the eastern part of Switzerland having gently rolling hills and being one of the most authentic Swiss cantons where traditions remain alive.
The young people will enjoy a superb quality of life and be enchanted by the green pastures at the foot of the pre-alpine massif of rocky S寴is.
The programme of the holiday camp includes: focusing on multiculturalism and building up friendship, a wide range of activities including sports, games, culture events, excursions with picnics, boat trips on Lake Constance, celebration of the Swiss national holiday on 1st of August, and exchanges with Swiss school classes.
This fortnight for 70 persons from Albania includes round-trip by plane, food and accommodation, all excursions, medical and accident insurance, specialized supervision (also by medical practitioners who can provide assistance for those in need).
Together with the help by the Swiss Embassy in Tirana for the Schengen-visa and the logistical support by the Swiss Cooperation Office Albania, the Swisscor Foundation is spending for the Albanian children alone about 15 million leks (or CHF 175,000).
