TIRANA, July.11- The obligation to carry out business transactions exclusively through banking channels has been postponed till September of this year, from the previous decision to begin in July with the institution of the new flat tax scheme. The decision affected transactions above 300.00 lek and was deeply resented by the business community. Business associations at the time of the decision complained that the geographical distribution and the human resources of the banks in Albania were not ready to support daily business transactions. The measure targets the decrease in the informality levels in the Albanian economy, estimated in the CIA world Fact book to hover around 50 percent of the total GDP.
