For about fifteen years now more than a thousand works of art by Albanian artists and sculptors in Durres have been sitting in very unsuitable storage and cannot be exhibited because of the absence of a state owned Figurative Arts Gallery. In 1993 they were locked away in a space of about 16 square meters, when the section of land on which the only arts gallery the city had was repossessed by its rightful owner. There are works by such famous artists as Abdurrahim Buza, Foto Stamo, Kristaq Rama, Vilson Kilica, Sadik Kaceli, etc and hundreds of works by other Durres artists such as Gavril Priftuli, Nikolet Vasia, Ruzhdi Rraklli, Musa Qarri etc. (Tirana Times Staff)
