The International Film Summerfest (ISF) will hold its second annual competition in Durr쳬 from the 22nd to the 30th of August 2009. The application deadline is the 10th of July 2009.
The official program will include movies produced after the 1st of January 2008. Selected works will be short-listed at the end of July. A new award, going to the Best Critic, was created with the aim of promoting the development of film critic in Albania.
The International Film Summerfest (ISF) organized at the port city of Durr쳬 less than 40 kilometers from Tirana, was established in 2008 with the support of the National Center of Cinematography and of the Municipality of Durr쳮 51 films from 23 Countries were reported to have applied for the first International Summerfest Film (ISF) organized in Durr쳠in 2008. On the first run of the ISF, last year, the Best Feature Film receiving the Festival’s Golden Gladiator trophy and a prize of 6000 Euros was awarded to “I served the King of England”, by Czech director Jiri Menzel.
The Golden Gladiator trophy, which bears a rough resemblance to the Oscar, was crafted in memory of the history of the city as a Roman port and center with a large amphitheater where gladiator combats and racing competitions attracted the population of the city.
