TIRANA, April 21 – We all hope that in June 2014 we will enter a new stage in European integration, said Albanian Integration Minister Klajda Gjosha referring to the European Commission’s decision on Albania’s possible candidate status during a ceremony on the 10th anniversary of the EU enlargement 2014.
The conference held at the EU Info Centre in Tirana last week elaborated on the EU accession experience of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia and the importance of regional cooperation for the European integration process, examining the Visegr⤠Group case.
“Albania is today a very different country from the one we saw at the beginning of the nineties. But it is also undeniable that Albania is a country of predominantly young people, and for Albania’s new generations the reference point is not communism and the distance between now and then, but Europe, and the distance between Albania and the Union,” said Clive Rumbold, Delegation of the EU to Albania.
The ambassadors of Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia to Tirana elaborated on their country’s experience 10 year after becoming EU members.
