TIRANA, Dec. 6 – Foreign Minister Edmond Haxhinasto held a meeting with representatives of some organizations of the Albanian diaspora in an effort to improve the support and activities of the government diplomacy abroad.
During the meeting the main subject was how to include the Albanian language book at the school curricula in other countries where more than one million Albanian immigrants reside.
Most of the immigrants are in neighboring Greece, followed by Italy and then other western countries in Europe, but also in the United States and Canada.
Haxhinasto pledged the improvement of the consular service in all the countries. He also said they would open offices there where immigrants could apply for the biometric passport. For the moment Tirana has pledged to open four such offices next year.
The minister also said they would soon open cultural centers in some countries with the biggest immigrants’ population, in an effort to increase the number of activities with the diaspora.
