TIRANA, Sep 13 – At a time when Kosovo is still in trouble following its unilateral independence from Serbia there are some voices who say it should join Albania. Albin Kurti, leader of the Vetevendosja political party and also a lawmaker in Kosovo, called on his country to distance itself from negotiations Pristina is holding with Belgrade under the Brussels auspices and to join Albania, according to AS private television station. Kurti accused Prime Minister Hashim Thaci’s government of helping Serbia in its membership aims in the European Union through Prishtina’s participation in these negotiations. He repeated his call to the government to stop talks with Serbia considering them as harmful to the country. Speaking to his party’s leadership, Kurti said the talks were bringing about an insecure future for Kosovo and were making it less functional.
“On the other hand, this dialogue process with Serbia has a centrifugal effect for the territory and for the normal functioning of the state of Kosovo. The more we negotiate with Serbia the more we will lose territory and the more dysfunctional will our country become. Negotiations without conditions with Serbia cannot be discussed in principle. Nevertheless, they are harmful,” said Kurti.
Kurti asked Kosovo to distance itself from negotiations with Serbia and to come closer to Albania, so one day it can join the Albania.
Kurti also strongly criticized the agreements that have been reached with Serbia.
He pledged “institutional and non-institutional” tools to topple the government in Prishtina.
These are separate voices coming out time and again in Kosovo or Macedonia. There is practically no word at all in Albania on joining with Kosovo.
