TIRANA, Sept. 18 – Italian companies dominate the list of foreign companies operating in Albania, according to data published by the country’s Institute of Statistics on the foreign companies and the joint ventures in Albania.
Data show Italy, which is Albania’s top trade partner, had 1,460 enterprises operating in Albania at the end of 2012, accounting for 38 percent of total foreign enterprises or joint ventures in Albania. Second came neighbouring Greece with 578 enterprises, followed by Turkey with 280, Kosovo with 211, Macedonia with 155, Germany with 124 and the United States with 107.
Albania had 3,811 foreign companies and joint ventures operating in 2012 of which only 224 have more than 50 employees.
