TIRANA, June 19 – Kosovar Prime Minister Hashim Thaci on Thursday expressed all the respects from his country to Albania’s efforts and support along Prishtina’s independence road.
Thaci started a two-day official visit to the neighboring country, the first since Kosova declared independence Feb. 17.
The Kosovar premier met with all top officials and also held a speech at the parliament. He also was declared an honored citizen of southwestern port city of Vlora.
During the talks Thaci and his Albanian hosts repeated that both countries would further and more significantly increase cooperation in all the spheres.
Thaci and Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, while paying extensive praise on each other, insisted that the new collaboration would have immediate results and both countries aimed at joint work in many areas. Energy was a main topic. Berisha repeated that Albania would be a shareholder of the big Kosova C thermo power plant but also said they would both likely invest in a smaller power plant of 400-500 MWs.
Tourism was a joint effort with summer in Albania and winter in Kosova. Berisha repeated that Albania offered all port facilities to Kosova that could consider itself as a country with a seaside, though far from that. Another main topic stressed was that Tirana and Prishtina did not intend to create a day the Greater Albania, as some in the world could fear.
Bothe premiers clearly said at the news conference and Thaci later at the parliament that Albania’s and Kosova’s future lied with the European Union and NATO.
