TIRANA, May 28 – Made in Albania products have for the first time been displayed in Bosnia and Herzegovina attracting interest from local traders. In a trade fair held at the premises of the Albania embassy in Sarajevo this week, Albanian and Bosnian businessmen signed deals to increase trade exchanges between the two countries.
Jemin Gjana, a former Agriculture Minister and head of the productive activities parliamentary committee said further facilitation is needed to boost trade exchanges as great opportunities exist in the tourism and agricultural sector.
Albanian entrepreneurs present in the trade fair called for support to promote their products in Bosnia where they are little known.
Data from the Bank of Albania show trade exchanges between Albania and Bosnia reached Euro 30 million in 2010 but Albanian exports accounted for only 2 million euros.
The event was part of an initiative to promote Made in Albania products in the region.
Last March, a trade fair of Albanian products bringing together producers from Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia and Presheva valley was held at the Murat Toptani pedestrian street in Tirana as part of Summer Day celebrations. Held under the slogan “I consume Albanian products” the trade fair showcased 100 Albanian companies which will promote 100 products for 100 days on the Albanian centenary independence in several Albanian-speaking cities in the region.
