TIRANA, Jan. 22 – Four people were arrested near Trikala in central Greece Monday on suspicion of trafficking illegal immigrants, according to the Greek newspaper Kathimerini.
The suspects, two Greeks and two Albanians, were allegedly transporting four migrants from Albania in two cars.
Police chased the vehicles after the drivers failed to stop for a check.
The suspects were allegedly taking the migrants from Igoumenitsa, in northwestern Greece, to Lamia.
Authorities said they had detained 238 migrants in northwestern Greece since Friday.
