New private hospital gets funding

TIRANA, Dec. 21 – The Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, which helps economic development in countries around the Black Sea and the Balkans, is to give a 10 million euro loan to fund building a private hospital in Albania.
The loan is to Hygeia Hospital Tirana ShA, a unit of Greek healthcare and hospital group Hygeia Diagnostic & Therapeutic SA, that will offer health services such as digital radiation therapy and oncology treatment that are currently not available in Albania, the Thessaloniki, the Greece-based bank said in a statement on its web site.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will also provide the hospital with a loan of 10 million euro on the same terms as the BSTDB, according to the statement.
The loan will finance the construction and operation of a private hospital in Tirana. The hospital is to provide a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services and will offer health services which until recently were not available to the general public in Albania, such as digital radiation therapy and oncology treatment.
The Project will lead to a higher degree of availability of private healthcare services in Albania and neighboring countries and will raise the quality of standards of living in the region.
The project is co-financed by the EBRD on the same terms and in the same amount as Black Sea Trade and Development Bank.
