TIRANA, Dec. 5 – President Bujar Nishani joined his counterparts from Kosovo, Ahtifete Jahjaga, and Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov, and host Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic at the summit held Wednesday in Budva, Montenegro.
There have been four such summits. Serbia did not take part with its president due to the presence of the Kosovo one.
Such summit helps bilateral and regional ties among the countries in the Balkans.
“Albania pays special attention to the increase and strengthening of the overall relations of cooperation with all the countries of Western Balkans and especially with its neighbors like Kosovo, Montenegro and Macedonia,” said Nishani.
He also urged more political dialogue among them and the continuation of such meetings in the region. Nishani stressed that intensifying the economic and trade cooperation, building a modern infrastructure, joint projects, creating a regional energy network, strengthening communication and telecommunication, facilitating goods trade and that of the people, intensifying cooperation in culture, education and science were some of the areas that all regional countries should focus in the near future.
He also urged closer ties with Europe and called for more EU projects and money invested in these countries.
The region has also a tourist potential that should be better exploited and the countries need to cooperate with each other in that sphere.
“We believe that the full Euro-Atlantic integration helps regional peace and stability and the European Union,” he said.
He also lobbied for Kosovo in the regional initiatives and projects.
