TIRANA, Aug. 8 – The opposition Socialist Party has denounced what it calls the failure of government to manage the country’s economy which has plunged into deep crisis. Arben Ahmetaj, an opposition Socialist Party MP, said the crisis is also confirmed by the latest Bank of Albania data on the difficult economic situation in the first two quarters of 2012.
“Some 6,000 new households have been added to the financial assistance scheme. Private consumption has gone into free fall, private investment into reduced free fall while foreign investment is lacking. State budget revenues have registered a record low in the past years,” said Ahmetaj.
