TIRANA, May 7 – Albanian parliament passed Monday a resolution on evaluating the Bank of Albania’s activity last year preserving the macro-economic and financial stability in the country.
It said that the BoA had respected the standards and goals set from the parliament for the year of 2006. “During the one-year activity the Bank of Albania has continued the road of macro-economic consolidation,” said the resollution. The country’s GDP increased by 5 percent and annual inflation preserved at 2.5 percent. The bank also said that crediting increased by 70 billion leks. The parliament asked the bank to continue play the same role in preserving the country’s macro-economic stability and follow close ties with the International Monetary Fund and the European Union. The BoA was also asked to pay special attention to increasing loans and also prevent any money laundry through the banking system.
