TIRANA, Nov. 3 – Albanian police arrested two persons and seized 8 kilograms of cocaine, the biggest amount in the tiny Balkan country.
The cocaine, valued at half a million Euro, was found Tuesday afternoon at the port of Durres at a truck transporting rice for an Albanian businessman starting from Santa Cruz, Bolivia to Rotterdam, Netherlands, and La Valetta, Malta.
The operation followed a month of investigation and cooperation with Dutch and Maltese authorities.
Albania is usually a transit point of heroin coming from Southwest Asia or cannabis sativa produced in the country.
