TIRANA, Jan. 7 – Top police authorities proclaimed great success Monday, saying they had solved 80 percent of some 10,000 crimes committed during 2007. Albania’s top police official, Ahmet Prenci, said police had cracked down on 131 criminal groups and arrested 503 persons committing such serious crimes as murder, corruption, economic-financial crimes, drug trafficking and other illegal trafficking.
“Deepening the fight against terrorism and organized crime, especially against illegal trafficking, will be main priority for the police,” said Prenci.
