Project to prevent HIV/AIDS in prison implemented

TIRANA, Sep. 7 – Albania’s prison department reports it has successfully implemented a project on preventing HIV/AIDS in the country’s prisons.
A considerable number of the prison department staff has been involved in the project spread in prisons all around the country — Vlor묠Vaqarr, Ali Demi, Peqin, Durr쳬 Spitali i Burgut, Lezh묠Mine Peza, Rrogozhin롡nd Youth Institute of Kavaj뮍
The project started four years ago and is to be completed in march next year.
It aims to increase awareness of prison personnel, the creation of the proper living conditions in prisons in order to prevent any spread of HIV/AIDS and also informing prisoners on the risk.
More than 90 percent of the imprisoned voluntarily agreed to have a test.
About three dozen prisoners were also included in the group of trainees who will serve as peer educators.
