TIRANA, Nov. 12 – Unaccompanied children from Albania, Romania and former Yugoslavia countries have become a serious concern for the Italian police. Research published last week in Italy indicate they make up to 60 percent of the unaccompanied children who arrived in Italy in 2006.
According to the research, of 6,500 children in Italy through September 30, 2006, 35.6 percent were Romanian (2,336 children), 15.4 percent were from Albania (1,013 attendance), 3.2 percent were from Serbia and Montenegro (211), 2.6 percent were from Moldova (172), 1 .4 percent were from Croatia (92), and 1.3 percent were from Bosnia-Herzegovina (90).
