TIRANA, May 11 – Strange story at an English newspaper, North-West Evening Mail.
An Albanian employed two illegal immigrants at his car wash because he was being bullied by his family back home in his country. Defrim Paci, 32, owner of Shine Car Wash in Barrow, said he took on his second cousin and one of his friends because of pressure from his other relatives, who believed it was his duty to look after them when they came illegally into the UK.
Paci, who lives in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to breaking immigration laws by “providing accommodation and employment” to two people who had no right to be living or working in the UK. He also pleaded guilty to the laundering of ñ08,059 – a charge based on the fact that he ran his business without paying tax.
Paci was given a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered to do 250 hours unpaid community work.
In September 2009 police raided a house in Salthouse Road, Barrow, where the two illegal immigrants were living. Both were found to be living under false identities, and working at Paci’s car wash.
