TIRANA, Nov. 12 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha announced that the international tender on identity cards has been published by the Financial Times and other international and national media outlets.
Berisha also thanked his U.S. advisor, Tom Ridge, for his assistance. With regard to the creation of an electronic registry, Berisha said that the data of 700,000 citizens of Tirana would be reflected in the registry within February. Lack of a proper register has been a main shortcoming during post-communist Albania’s elections.
