Albanian and Macedonian national tourism agencies sign cooperation agreement ahead of the high tourism season.
TIRANA, April 3 – Albania has signed an agreement with neighboring Macedonia aiming at closer cooperation in tourism.
Albanian and Macedonian national tourism agencies signed an agreement as the first step toward more cooperation ahead of the high tourism season.
They aim to promote joint tourist package in various fairs or activities in the world.
That meeting was held in Skopje, Macedonia, and was part of the countries’ efforts to join the European Union in the future.
Citizens of both countries spent hundreds of millions for tourism in other countries despite having a good climate and tourism environment at home.
Also many Macedonians, mainly from the ethnic Albanian population, visit Albania during summer to enjoy its beaches. They have been calculated to have spent about one-fifth of the total money citizens there have spent abroad last year.
This year it is expected Macedonians will spend some 200 million euros in Albania, which offers cheaper accommodation and beautiful beaches.
