Tirana, Rome continue cooperation civil defense

TIRANA, July 26 – Albanian and Italian interior ministry officials signed on Monday a two-year deal on consolidating the cooperation of their national systems of civil emergencies and urging more joint projects in that area.
The bilateral agreement will urge joint research aiming at improving the preventing and softening management of risks, setting and applying the strategy of the institutional systems of emergency, exchange of data and personal experience and improving the mechanisms of cooperation between the two countries.
Italy has been a main supporter for post-communist Albania during emergency situations.
Last January Albania was struck from a flooding that affected thousands of hectares of land, businesses and houses. Italian authorities helped Albanian counterparts in managing the crisis and pledged further cooperation in the future.
Rome authorities have also been close supproters when Albania has tried to fight fires exploding in mountain areas usually during summer time.
