TIRANA, Feb. 7 – President of the International Automobile Association (FIA) Jean Todt held a visit to Albania as part of his global campaign against a growing number of road accidents.
The visit was designed to offer Albanian authorities the details of the FIA action plan for Road Safety.
Todt is better known in Albania for his management of Ferrari at the Formula 1 race.
Albania’s Transport Minister Sokol Olldashi said the Albanian government has taken measures for the improvement of road infrastructure and road signs. He added that the strategy on road safety that has been approved recently aimed to reduce accidents by 30-50 percent. Albania is a country with a very high rate of fatal road accidents.
There is daily news on the deaths of people in road accidents, often due to the mistake from the drivers but also a large part because of the poor road network, the lack of the driving signs and the respect of the rules.
