TIRANA, Dec.22 – the Finance Ministry announced on Friday that the interest on the 4.5 billion leks ($48 million/36.4 million euro) issue of two-year Albanian Treasury notes did not change form the previous auction. The latest issue auctioned on December 14 was an unchanged 8.4 percent. The Bank of Albania organized as usual the transactions for the government securities on behalf of the Finance Ministry. Dealers placed bids worth 5.85 billion leks. The two-year securities have an issue date December 18 and carry a 8.3 percent coupon to be paid semi-annually, on June 18 and December 18. The maximum offered yield was recorded in December 14 where the T-note auction produced a 8.8 percent and a minimum offered yield of 8.16 percent. The previous auction of 4.5 billion leks of two-year T-notes held on November 16 also was oversubscribed as dealers placed bids worth 5.75 billion leks. This issue bears an annual interest rate of 8.4 percent, with coupon payments due semi-annually, on May 20 and November 20.
