KORCE, Feb.26 – 39 land owners whose property rests upon the track of the highway of Kapshtica will receive around 38 million leks compensation in total. The National Directory of Roads made public the news explaining that the funds are allocated form the state budget. 23 of the owners have lost agricultural land. 3 of them are still in the process of completing the necessary documentation. 16 other land owners will be compensated for simple land. The area known as the Ciflik has been the most affected one and the land owners for four years have organized protest culminating with the blocking of the road in order to get their compensation. A few of the owners have already been given a currency compensation. The delays in the process were caused by legal contestations of property for the land of the segment. Director of the national directory or roads, Gentian Pere said that the 39 land owners will be treated fairly after all legal disputes have been resolved and that the government decided in December to carry on with the procedures of land compensation in local currency. The Korce-Kapshtice highway long 33 kilometers was finished in 2002 and was realized after the state intervention to confiscate the land owned by villagers hat had to be allocated to the road project.
