TIRANA, March 5 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha said Monday at a meeting of the governing Democratic Party parliamentarians that the country was on the eve of giant investment, especially in the energy field. “International interest for investment in energy is greater than ever,” he said. The premier mentioned some projects on building thermo power plants and gas terminals that are to start this year. “The government has taken all the steps to speed up the concession for scores of small and medium-sized hydro power stations and other big ones from Bushat to Devoll,” he said.
Berisha also mentioned tourism as the main potential of development for the country saying that negotiations with big tourist groups were held to promote such a sphere in the country. He said that all those ask for an efficient administration and the rule of law.
The brain gain program, first forecast only for the academic group in the country, would extend to the whole state administration. The government was considering how to evaluate its employees financially based on their professional and performance merits.
