Tirana, 18 March 2008. Albtelecom SA has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to develop a Next Generation Network for its broadband services.
Albtelecom has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks due to its strong competence in Next Generation Network solutions and also because of its long-time collaboration in the areas of switches and multiplexing, according to Ercan Agir, Deputy General Manager of Albtelecom.
“Nokia Siemens Networks, with its solutions leading the technological change towards all-IP networks, will demonstrate in practice its entire capability in the development of Next Generation Networks in Albania,” said Roberto Loiola, head of Nokia Siemens Networks South East Europe sub region.
Thanks to the new NSN technologies, Albtelecom SA expects to gradually increase the number, and improve the quality of services offered, to its current one million customers and to attract thousands of new ones. NSN will provide a highly advanced solution that will bring to end users new and exciting experiences based on Internet Protocol (IP), including high-quality voice, data and multimedia.
According to its recently signed contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will deliver to Albtelecom an efficient and cost-effective solution for a streamlined, consolidated network, featuring broadband access and high-quality voice services, which is capable of handling traditional telephony, simple access points and a circuit-switched digital network.
Albtelecom SA is the leader in the Albanian fixed telecommunication market. At present, the company is the main fixed Albanian operator holding over 90 percent of the Albanian market. Albtelecom operates a mobile license under the brand name Eagle Mobile.(Tirana Times Staff)
