TIRANA, May 11 – The British media reported Tuesday that Albanian international Lorik Cana playing with Sunderland in England is disappointed with his first season in English football.
The 26-year-old Albania international helped his side to a 13th-place finish in the Barclays Premier League and a much more comfortable conclusion to the campaign than the ones they had endured during the two previous years.
However, Cana knows they could have done even better after Sunday’s final-day defeat at Wolves finally ended their hopes of climbing into the top ten.
He told the Journal: “It has been a disappointing season for us. I don’t think it has been a great season, because a great season would have been to finish in the top half of the table, and we haven’t done that,” he said.
Cana said: “I think we have the quality to do better – but nobody will give you presents in this league. You have to fight for every point. That’s why it’s the best league in the world.”
