TIRANA, April 11 – Due to the political frictions local elections authorities of the Central Election Commission cannot order the printing of the ballots for the May 8th local elections.
The main opposition Socialist party has made a complaint at the Electoral College about their content and consequently the CEC cannot order the printing of the ballots until that claim is settled.
The opposition claims that the names and logos of the parties forming the opposition coalition do not appear on the ballots; only the name of the coalition they have formed is listed. That is considered as a tool of confusing the voters when they cast their ballots.
The CEC is expected to order 7.2 million paper ballots.
